Remembering 2013 & Our Winter Break

2013. It was a great year for our little family. It was simple, yet complicated. Busy, yet relaxing. It had moments of challenge, and mostly moments of celebration. Although we didn't travel anywhere super exotic... we made many travels around our beautiful Oregon. There is so much to see and do here, right at home. We also didn't make any huge changes. And although changes are fun and exciting... we are looking forward to when it's that perfect timing, for us, for change. In 2013... we laughed our tushies off as often as possible... explored the great outdoors and loved one another with our hearts wide open.

We kicked off our 2014... like as many years past... just the six of us. At home. Watching movies. Playing board games. Toasting each other... have you ever toasted with a wee one? It's like Christmas morning all over again. The smile of delight, twinkle in the eye, pure giddiness for a little one to actually toast their cup of sparkling bubbly (apple cider, of course) while watching the ball drop. Priceless. It's simple, really. But to us, it's a real party. Watching our kiddies smile, hearing each other's laughter, wishing each other 'Happy New Year', and sealing the new year with a kiss... does it really get any better than that when you're with the ones you love?

Winter Break was just that... a wonderful, restful break. My amazing husband made my 31st birthday very memorable with special little surprises throughout the day. The man, really knows how to make this lady feel special. I'm one lucky gal.

Unfortunately, we did end up ALL getting sick for 5 days... the knock you out, chills all over, coughy, icky type of sick... probably best known as the FLU! Definitely not fun... but on the plus side, it was a great excuse to sip on hot soups, watch movies and snuggle on the couch with each other. And after our many days of laying low in the comforts of our abode... we got out for fresh air and took advantage of it everyday.

On one of those days, we took the girls to the park for a photo shoot for their 7th birthday party invitations. These two are growing up so fast. Actually all four of them are. But it's still hard to believe my first borns are going to be 7. The big 7!

After our photo shoot... we took all four kiddos to their favorite park. The pirate park. It's definitely winter out there... but after lots of running around... warmth returns for a brief moment. Just long enough to enjoy some fun outside.
